In remote western Myanmar lie the remnants of Mrauk U, the capital city of a powerful ancient kingdom that once ruled 1600 kilometres of coastal territory with its huge naval fleet. The ancient temples of the city remain nestled among a collection of small villages in a scenic landscape of narrow valleys and low hills. This trip will take you to the town of Sittwe on the coast of Rakhine State, from which you will embark on a boat journey upriver to mysterious Mrauk U. After exploring the timeless temples of the city, you will travel north to visit ethnic Chin villages, where women practice the curious tradition of wearing facial tattoos of various patterns. The return trip from Mrauk U will take you back downriver to Sittwe, where you will linger long enough to take in the atmosphere of this busy port town.

Day 1: Yangon arrival (G)
Arrive at Yangon International Airport, you’ll be welcome by our well-experienced guide. Transfer to your hotel. In the late afternoon, visit world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, this Pagoda dates back about 2600years enshrined 8 sacred hairs of the Buddha, claimed to be the world richest golden dome rises 99 meters and plastered onto the sides of this pagoda with 60 tons of pure gold. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon/Sittway (B, G)
In the morning, you’ll catch a flight to Sittway. Sightseeing around Sittway to Buddhist Museum and Cultural Museum. You’ll then visit the mosque, Mahakuthala monastery and Payagyi temple. View-point for sunset. Overnight in Sittway.
Day 3: Sittway/Mrauk U (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you’ll visit morning fish market in Sittway and boat to Mrauk U. You’ll then boat to Warbo, a weaving village. It offers traditional weaving and a lot of traditional looms can be seen. There are about 200 houses in the village and there is no house that doesn’t have a loom in Warbo. On the way stop by Myo (Khami) village to see rural way of life. It’s about 8 nautical miles away from Mruak U. Myo (Khami) is one of the distinctive tribes in the Rakhine state. Light food (lunch box) on the boat and arrive Mrauk U in the evening. Overnight in Mrauk U.
Day 4: Mrauk U (B, G)
In the morning, you’ll visit Mrauk U market after breakfast seeing locals’ way of life – buying/selling local products. Then visit Pharaouk Temple, Mong-Khong-Shwe-Du Stupa, Pizi Paya, and Kothaung Temple (a shrine of 90000 Buddha images) and Latt-say lake (artificial lake with a city wall and a gate) and Sanamuni monastery.
In the afternoon, visit the interesting and well-known temples – Shitetaung, Andawthein, Yatanabon, Htukkam Thein, Lay Myethnar, Laungbwanbyauk pagoda, Pitakataik and sunset at Haridaung hill. Overnight in Mrauk U.
Day 5: Mrauk U (Chin Villages) (B, G)
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Nan Kyar Jetty (45min) and take the boat along the Lemyo River to see the way of life of tatooed women. Villages we are to visit are Sin Swe Kyo (3hrs boat from Nan Kyar Jett), and then proceed to Pan Maung (15min) and Chaw Mi villages (30min) where you see more Chin tribes. Advised to have lunch box prior from Mrauk U as it take nearly whole day and no good palce to eat in villages. Arrive Mrauk U in the evening. You’ll spend the night in Mrauk U.
Day 6: Mrauk U (Mahamuni, Vesali) (B, G)
After breakfast, visit to Danyawadi ancient city and Mahamuni teimple which is about 27miles far from Mrauk U and on the way back visit Vesali great image. Lunch and take break. Overnight in Mrauk U
Day 7: Mrauk U/Yangon (B, G)
Early morning after breakfast, boat to Sittway and fly to Yangon where transits for your departure flight.
