Surrounded by the Jungle Mountains, it is a pleasant pastoral scene that leads us to a side trek and into the hills. There are many villages of various ethnic tribes resided around Kyaing Tong and we can only differentiate the tribes by colourful dresses which is different to one another. All are living in different stages of development, some still following very traditional ways. A delicious lunch in a local eating house set us off on our mission to visit an animist. Can observe their tribal dances and their way of living on these mountainous regions around Kyaing Tong.

Recommend Season: Not recommend Kyaing Tong area during rainy season (Starting from June to end of September)

 

Day 1: Kyaing Tong arrival (G)

On arrival, you’ll be picked up and transferred to hotel and check- in. Sight seeing in Kyaing Tong starts with Maha Myat Muni Pagoda, housing Mandalay Style Buddha image. Proceed to Shan lacquer ware. Tourist who are fond of lacquer ware can purchase desirable lacquer ware of high quality. Then visit Standing Buddha image, (the place where Kyaing Tong was founded about one thousand years ago), Hot Spa, Akha centre village and R.C.M church. Visit to the One Tree Hill where a lone, 245 years old Kanyin-byu tree stands. The tree was planted by Alaungmintaya, the founder of Third Myanmar Empire. Overnight at hotel in Kyaing Tong.

 

Day 2: Kyaing Tong (B, L, G)

After breakfast, you’ll have a morning visit to Water Buffalo Market where buyers and sellers stand around seemingly doing nothing but Kyaing Tong for Taunggyi on the southern side of the town. (If Open). Because water buffalos are not found in many countries, the twice weekly market excites considerable interest, take the car about 45 minutes for a hiking tour into the Pin Tauk area. You’ll visit the villages of Akha and Enn tribes. Some are baptized, some tribes still animists. The Enn are an ethnic group which tourists have found particularly interesting labelling them the “Black Teeth”. The walk is not difficult and can be done slowly. They live on the higher slopes. They have distinctively different costumes and beliefs from the other tribes. It will take about 4 hours to visit the villages. Drive back to hotel and leisure.

 

Day 3: Kyaing Tong (B, L, G )

Breakfast at the hotel. Fully – day excursion to Lwe tribe village. You’ll drive approx. 2 hrs on the road to Maila, a border town at the Chinese Border. From there it will take a 1/2 hours hike to WanNyunt village, one of the Loi tribe village. The Loi preferring to live in a huge long houses, including at least 5 families. Before visiting the Lois there is an old monastery, a very beautiful one and very different from the other monasteries. One hour from there is another Loi village (Wan Seng). Scenery is beautiful and hiking is not difficult. Return to Kyaing Tong. Overnight at hotel in Kyaing Tong.

 

Day 4: Kyaing Tong (B, L, G)

Breakfast at hotel. Upon flight time permitting, you’ll visit to the colorful local Market is the site for gathering of the different clans, each in their colorful costumes: any given morning you would see Ahku, Ahka, Palaung, Enn, or Lahu races. Check out hotel and will be transferred to Kyaing –Tong airport and depart for domestic flight to next destination OR drive to Tachiliek (border of Myanmar – Thailand) (4 hrs driving).
