Bangkok/Khao Yai

Starting from Bangkok, experience the intense flavors and amazing contrasts in the cosmopolitan city more affectionately known as ‘Krungthep’, or City of Angels, to the Thais. Drive to Khao Yai natural park – a fun and exciting way to learn more about Thailand’s wonderful wildlife. It’s allowed to explore the jungles on foot and you have a real chance to encounter all kinds of exciting wildlife including large charismatic species like elephants, gaur, bears, gibbons, and even wild elephants. Experience 3-day wildlife in Khao Yai will likely be the highlight of your trip in Thailand!

Destination: Bangkok/Khao Yai

Highlights: Starting from Bangkok, experience the intense flavors and amazing contrasts in the cosmopolitan city more affectionately known as ‘Krungthep’, or City of Angels, to the Thais. Drive to Khao Yai natural park – a fun and exciting way to learn more about Thailand’s wonderful wildlife. It’s allowed to explore the jungles on foot and you have a real chance to encounter all kinds of exciting wildlife including large charismatic species like elephants, gaur, bears, gibbons, and even wild elephants. Experience 3-day wildlife in Khao Yai will likely be the highlight of your trip in Thailand!

Day 1: Bangkok arrival (G)

On arrival at Suvanphumi Airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel. Your overnight stay will be in Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok City Tour (B, L, G)

After breakfast, you’ll begin your tour of Bangkok with a long tail boat ride along the Chao Phraya River to see many lively inner canals which provide some fantastic views of the local life. Along the way you will stop over at Wat Arun, the temple of dawn, before continuing to the Grand Palace which dedicated to the Thai Royal Family’s ceremonies. Nearby is the magnificent Wat Phra Kaew, which is famous for the Emerald Buddha Image. After seeing this complex, you will drive through the many vibrant streets of China Town to some of the most significant temples in Bangkok. The landmark of Wat Traimit is well known as the Golden Buddha Temple while Wat Pho houses a gigantic Reclining Buddha. You will spend the night in Bangkok.

Day 3: Bangkok/Khao Yai (B, L, D, G in park)

After breakfast, the car will pick up and take you to Khao Yai. On arrival, you’ll meet your naturalist guide and head out on a nature walk for the rest of the day through the lush evergreen forest that dominates the central regions of Khao Yai national park. Porters are on-hand to carry food and other essentials, and a cook prepares a traditional Thai lunch for you in the forest. Having freshened up after your walk, you will visit the park headquarters to learn more about the park and hear about on-going attempts to bring together wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching training and rural development projects to conserve the parks diverse wildlife. After dinner, set out on a night drive through the forest on the look out for elephants, deer, civets, porcupine and other wildlife.
You’ll spend the night at hotel/resort just outside the National Park.

Day 4: Khao Yai natural park (B, L, D, G in park)

An early morning walk to a wildlife watchtower on the look-out for birds such as the great horn-bill, and to witness dawn activities at a nearby mineral lick. Back for breakfast, then set out on a full day nature trek with your naturalist leader. Again, porters will be carrying essentials for breakfast and another delicious lunch in the forest. After finishing the walk and having dinner, an optional night drive.

Overnight at hotel/resort just outside the National Park.

Day 5: Khao Yai/Bangkok (B, L, G in park)

A morning nature trek that focuses on the lives of the parks gibbon population. You will set off early in an attempt to view these amazing forest acrobats at close range. After lunch on the trail, exit the forest at approximately 4pm and transfer back to Bangkok.

Day 6: Bangkok departure (B)

After breakfast, you’ll be free until your driver arrives to take you to the airport for your departure flight.
