First-time solo backpacking trip –travel from the South to Center of Vietnam (part 1)

First-time solo backpacking trip –travel from the South to Center of Vietnam (part 1)

Being a solo backpacker for the first time –backpacking from the South to Center of Vietnam (Saigon- Nha Trang- Quang Ngai)

I have long been waiting for this day. Finally, I can manage to make a trip to come back home by motorbike

Plan for  Saigon- Nha Trang- Quang Ngai

Day No1: Saigon- 400kilometers- Nha Trang

Day No2: Nha Trang- 410 kilometers- Quang Ngai

Day No1 (02/06/2014): Departing from Ho Chi Minh city

Being overexcited about the trip, I could not sleep the night before my trip.

There are a lot of traffic police standing on the road near Dong Nai from 4am to 5 am. Therefore, you should drive carefully. You can be captured for exceeding the speed limit. My friend was captured at 5:30 near Tre stream.

When I reached Phan Thiet, I took a rest to have breakfast. I ate Quang noodle in a crowded restaurant near the gate leading to Phan Thiet’s city. The noodle was delicious.

Then I continued driving. Although I was far from my home village, I was extremely excited.

It suddenly rained when I reached Binh Thuan. I began to feel discouraged and lonely as I had to drive on a seemingly endless road. I wondered whether I had made a wise choice to drive alone like this. However, I had time to think about many things on my way.

I was relieved to see the milestone of Nha Trang city. It was awesome to get the view of nature in a place without friends, families.  I was 84 kilometers far from Nha Trang.

I saw some polices far away. If I were not busy, I would stay a little longer to relax as it was easy to exceed the speed limit while driving on such beautiful road.

When I arrived at Nha Trang, the weather was sunny and cool. I felt more comfortable. Welcome to sea city!

An acquaintance of mine agreed to put me up at his home for a night. After I had arranged my luggage, I got around the city. It was peaceful to walk along windy sea road. This was the first time I visited Nha Trang. More importantly, it was the first time I traveled alone.

In early mornings or late evenings, local people and tourists head for the beach to relax and play. The road was only 5 or 6 kilometers long but was very crowded. To me, Nha Trang was the most worth-living city.

It was pity that I could stay in Nha Trang longer to go swimming and enjoy seafood. Coming back to my acquaintance’s house, I prepared drinks and breads for my trip back home in Quang Ngai.
