About Duong Dong river
Duong Dong is the largest river of Phu Quoc island. It starts from Ong Thay mountain (belong to Ham Ninh mountain), has the length of about 15km, heads to the West.
At the gate of the river, there is a big sand-dune. When there is moonlight, youth get together, sing, play, and celebrate birthday parties. From the side of Dinh Cau, the sand-dune looks like a white silk strip between the river and the sea. Sometimes, sand also looks like diamonds. Arriving at Phu Quoc island, take a seat under a terminalia catappa, and have a cup of coffee.
If you have a chance to pass Hung Vuong bridge, stop in the middle of the bridge, you can see another beautiful point of Duong Dong river. It is very large. Both sides of it are full of wild grasses. The landscape is both wild and poetic.
In the afternoons of autumn, you can see many different beautiful parts of Duong Dong. It is the river overwhelmed by the red of sky at sunset. It is the river overwhelmed by the white of fog. You can get off all worries and stress. White shirts of students coming home after lessons can remind you of the time you go to school.
From an airplane, the river looks like a strip of silk.
I love Duong Dong because it is a part of my childhood, a part of my soul, and it is the river of my fatherland. It reminds me of happiness, and sadness. The river conveys the history of Phu Quoc island.
