Vietnam holiday – Talk about “backpack” (“phuot”)
“Backpack” is now a popular term whenever you talk about the topic “Vietnam holiday package”. However, true dictionaries almost don’t give a real definition of “backpack”. Many people say that it is said out the first time by the writer Vu Anh when he talked to professional backpackers many years ago on the Internet.
Its first name is “backpacking travel” which is shortened to be “backpack”. It sounds a bit incomprehensible, and wild as travellers. It is so suitable for backpackers that someone has said that if he is wealthy afterwards, he will worship Vu Anh because of that word.
Backpackers all are courageous. I could feel their spirits after talking with them during my Vietnam holiday package. However, some of them are weird properly because they travel too much. They certainly are more bravery than people who book Vietnam tour package in agent, interviewers, or writers criticizing them in the newspaper, or on the Internet. Maybe because journalists depend on government too much, what they write is sometime just gabbage.
Last year, I had a note criticizing a leader from France. He climb the landmark to take photos, let his team sleep on the road,… He has a bushy beard as Luu Bi, smokes pipe tobacco, drink bottle by bottle of wine, wear camourflage uniform, and drive Min Kho all day. Althought I and he have debated all 3 days long, I feel his sincere heart. His soul is beautiful, and got lucky because he were safe after that trip.
Some weeks sgo, I was invented to have a drink with him. He looked as if he had known his problems. We laughed together. He showed me his big scar at the end of his eye, which is the result of a debate. His rival had run out of arguments, but is very strong. Therefore, he was replied with a punch. Poor him.
Sometimes I spent time having a drink with young backpackers as a habit. I find out many problems of them. The society seems to be civilized, well-off; and telling somebody to have a meal with you is not a big problem.
They are overwhelmed by idols, desirable for escaping from their families’ protection. They are unequable because of a mass of culture coming into our culture. Backpacking at least is a way helping them get free of bore, and satisfying their desire for freedom. Korean movies, lovely clothes, gamblings, methamphetamine,… are not strong enough for them to challenge themselves.
Every choice has íts weakness. Everyone get hurt while growing. We start to observe surroundings, approach new points of view, and get interesting lessons. Be carefull with all steps you take to return safely.
